EDUCATIONAL CENTER AT THOMAS ARNOLD ELMENTARY

Thomas Arnold Elementary School is a project base for the beautification and education components of KSB.   Debbie Blair, of Central Texas Master Naturalists, planned and implemented the planting of a Monarch Way Station.   A Way Station is a garden that contains the plants that are vital to the monarch butterfly lifecycle and is designed to attract the butterflies on their migratory route.   For another area of the Center Amber Preston-Dankert designed and led a volunteer group in planting native grasses and wildflowers. Children from TAE, assisted by teachers and parents, help with all phases of planting and continue with garden care. A school garden is an ideal place to learn about the natural world. This site is designated a Texas School Yard Wildscape Demonstration Site.

The garden continues to be used for hands-on education classes with the students, led by teachers and community volunteers.
