Visitor Center and college hill
 demonstration garden

Picture
The Salado Museum and College Park have been established to preserve and promote the pioneer history of Salado and the diverse nationalities that settled this area.  The museum houses a collection of artifacts, books and papers that document the settlement and heritage of this area and hosts educational programs and exhibits throughout the year in a beautiful 100-year-old stone building across from the historic Stagecoach Inn in downtown Salado.  College Park, just south of the museum, is the location of the ruins and grounds of historic Salado College.  The Salado Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center recently relocated to the Museum.

This backdrop for the KSB Demonstration garden features native and adaptive plants.  Central Texas Master Naturalists and Bell County Master Gardeners planned and planted the garden.  Rain Catchment and drip sprinklers are planned.  Compost bins at College Hill recycle garden waste for use as mulch in the gardens.  This is a study in living with deer in the garden; some days it works.  The garden are maintained by the KSB First Monday Gardeners. Check the calendar for specific date and time; join us to help maintain these beautiful spaces.

KSB has offered classes on Native Plants and plans include classes at the Demonstration Gardens on Composting, Rain Catchment, and Drip Line Sprinklers.  Native Plant books are available for sale at the Salado Public Library.
