Salado Recycle Center
New Location : 113 Salado Plaza Drive
(in back of Salado Creekside Business/Arts Campus and Salado Arts Workshop)
The Recycle Center has moved to a new location, but recycle is just the beginning. Keep Salado Beautiful is now taking on a sustainability project that will offer a special place to educate and promote sustainable practices. If you have been to the recycle center since it opened at the new site, then you have seen a large trailer sitting on an empty lot at the Salado Creekside Arts/Business Campus. Over the next year you will hopefully see native plant gardens for butterflies and wildlife start to emerge in the areas surrounding the trailer. You might see water collection systems in place to offer water to the foliage. There could be a community garden and a compost center. We have added a sign created as part of the Village Brigade Mural Program and the Salado High School Arts Department. Alternative energy could then be added within the landscape to light the pathways.
The Sustainability Project would also offer educational information and resources that would help expand the use of sustainable practices to individuals, businesses, and organizations from the Salado community. We are also looking to partner with other people in the community who are promoting and educating people on sustainable practices.
This project is in the planning phase now, however, the goal is to make this project a reality within the next year. If you are interested in participating in The Sustainability Project, or if you are wanting more information about sustainable practices, please contact Lynette Reed.
